FEARS are growing for an Ethiopian woman who disappeared in the region two weeks ago.
Tegist Teshome Mekanen, 24, came to the UK in January to work as a domestic helper for an elderly Newcastle woman.
She was last seen with her employer outside the Lloyds TSB bank in St Mary's Place, Newcastle, on the morning of Monday, May 10.
Detectives are concerned for her welfare, as they believe she has little knowledge of the North-East, has no known family or other connections in the UK, and had no money on her when she vanished.
She is described as about 5ft 6in, of medium build, with black, shoulder length hair and brown eyes.
She was last seen wearing a green headdress, a dark grey jacket with a belt around the middle and a white skirt patterned with horizontal stripes and dots.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Newcastle police on 0191-214 6555.
