PLANS to convert a nightclub complex into exclusive apartments in the Teesside countryside have been announced.
Proposals are well-advanced for the project at the Tall Trees complex, near Yarm, which will involve the construction of apartments, the upgrading and extension of hotel facilities, including additional bedrooms, a health and leisure centre, function room and business suites.
The announcement marks another milestone for Tall Trees owner Javed Majid as his company, Maher Entertainments, celebrates its 20th year in business.
Steve Hesmondhalgh, of Blackett Hart and Pratt solicitors, who is taking a lead role in the development of the project, said he wanted to convince leading entrepreneurs that they should have their homes at the site.
The apartment complex will be built on the site of Club M nightclub. There will be an underground car park and the plans include improved pedestrian and cycle routes, together with a free bus service.
Mr Hesmondhalgh said: "Javed has a strong commitment to the Tees Valley and this is reflected in his ambition to provide the kind of gold standard accommodation which can actually make a major contribution to the overall economic regeneration of the area.
"This is the style of luxury living you might find in London and other big cities, but in a completely different setting, with superb leisure facilities on site, close to the countryside, yet only minutes from the major road, rail and air links."
