TECHNOLOGY students completed an Army exercise with military precision, building a rope bridge strong enough to cross a ravine.
The team building exercise at Bishop Barrington School, in Bishop Auckland, was led by Sergeant Mitch Mitchell and other soldiers from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).
Shaun Clarke, the school's head of technology, said: "The students had a brilliant day and worked very well."
The school is entering a Green Power Challenge, which has a regional heat at Croft Circuit in September, and a national final at Goodwood, West Sussex.
Sponsors are needed to help them produce two go-karts, one made from aluminium and the other from recycled materials such as cardboard.
Mr Clarke said: "We are in the Yorkshire and Humberside area, and the nearest school is Whitby, so we are representing the North-East and we are determined to do as well as we can."
