BLIND runner Peter Elliott, who has raised more than £20,000 on charity runs, hopes to raise at least £2,000 on his next outing, on Sunday.
He is taking part in a four- mile fun run in the grounds of Raby Castle during the annual Barnard Castle Meet weekend.
He will be guided around the course by a friend, Harry Richards.
Mr Elliott has completed the run every year for the past 18 years. He raised £2,500 last year and hopes to get near that mark again.
He said: "I enjoy taking part and am grateful to everyone who has sponsored me. The money has all been given out to local charities."
This time, in addition to helping a number of Teesdale charities, Mr Elliott intends to give some of the funds he raises to Darlington Memorial Hospital.
