MEMBERS of a Methodist church congregation are on their marks and ready to go to mark their 123rd anniversary.
Although not usually regarded as a significant anniversary, members of Allhallowgate Methodist Church, Ripon, felt that a special occasion was called for.
The 1.2.3. Go! Celebrate! event runs from Thursday, June 3 to Sunday, June 6, and during that time the church is inviting anyone who wishes to call in.
A children's fun afternoon will take place on the Friday from 2pm to 4pm when games, music, craft and videos are on the programme.
On the Friday evening the Mayor of Ripon, Councillor Stuart Martin, will officially launch the weekend.
The church will also be open for the viewing of flower arrangements. Displays can also be viewed on June 5, from 10am to 4pm when free tea and coffee will be served.
On Saturday, at 7.30pm, an evening entitled Characters and Capers from the World of the Wesleys will be presented.
The event will close with a Songs of Praise service at 6.30pm. During the weekend, people will be invited to vote for their favourite hymn or song and during the Songs of Praise the top ten favourites will be announced and sung.
