Sir Christopher Gent, the former boss of Vodafone, was today named by drugs group GlaxoSmithKline as successor to chairman Sir Christopher Hogg.
The 56-year-old will join the board of the Anglo-American group as deputy chairman on Tuesday before stepping up to the top post at the start of next year.
