THE curator of the Lindisfarne Gospels at the British Library is to travel to the region on Friday to give a talk on the famous book.
Michelle Brown, who has also written a book on the Gospels, has timed her visit to coincide with a display of the faithful copy of the manuscripts at Chester-le-Street Library.
The highly acclaimed facsimile of one of the world's greatest books has been on show in the County Durham Library since May 10.
The high quality copy has given visitors the chance to see the beauty of the book's decoration.
The facsimile of the treasure will be the centrepiece of an exhibition for four weeks.
On Friday at 6pm Ms Brown will give a talk at the library called The Lindisfarne Gospels: Making and Meaning. The author has also agreed to sign books after the event. Tickets which are available from the library on 0191- 388 2015 are free of charge.
Copies of the Gospels are touring the country and a facsimile has already been on show in Durham County Council's bookbus which is visiting small and remote communities in the county.
The touring exhibition is a collaboration between the British Library, Durham County Council and the North East Museums, Libraries and Archives Council.
