STAFF and pupils have been rewarded for making their school a healthier place to work and learn.
Hurworth House School, near Darlington, has been awarded the Healthy School accolade for its efforts in catering for children aged five to 18. It was presented to them by the chairman of Darlington Primary Care Trust, Sandra Pollard.
The school has spent two years seeking to improve pupils' working lifestyles.
The self-analysis has led to a number of changes in the school including, from September, the introduction of a drugs awareness course.
School director of studies John Hunter said many changes had been made possible thanks to the support from the Darlington trust's school nurses.
