A MAN appeared in court yesterday charged with causing the death of a mother-of-two.
Leslie Lawrence, 35, was killed after her 600cc motorbike was involved in a collision with a Ford Fiesta on the A19 at Washington, on April 5.
Ms Lawrence, of Cromwell Street, Grindon, Sunderland, died in hospital from massive internal injuries.
Derek Pallas, 21, of Sycamore Park, Brandon, Durham, is accused of causing death by dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and failing to stop and report an accident.
Thomas Gilroy, 47, of Striding Edge, Washington, is accused of perverting the course of justice following the accident.
The case was adjourned to August 3 when the men will appear before Newcastle Crown Court. Both were granted bail.
