THE brother of a teenager who died from a brain tumour, joined forces with Redcar MP Vera Baird to campaign about a proposed windfarm.
Robert Puckrin, the brother of 16-year-old Adele Puckrin who died in November of a brain tumour after a two-and-a-half-year battle, spent the week at Ms Baird's office on work experience.
He was able to see all aspects of the work that the consituency office carries out on the MP's behalf and took up the proposal to develop an offshore windfarm in Coatham Bay with several councillors from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
He said: "I know that the windfarm proposal is a big issue in Redcar and I have spoken with Vera Baird MP and the leader of the three main political groups on the council and come to the opinion that I am against having 30 massive turbines so close to our town because they would be bad for the people who live here and the wild birds that live in Coatham Bay.
"I am in favour of renewable energy but these turbines would not be in the right place."
Robert's family, who have set up a memorial fund to remember his sister, are trying to raise enough money to pay for a social worker for teenagers diagnosed with cancer.
The social worker, from Sargent Cancer Care for Children, would be based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
Robert's mother, Paula, has already found 21 people to join her in an abseil off Middlesbrough's Transporter Bridge on September 5. She is hoping to get a total of 50
