FAMILIES interested in fostering and adoption have been invited to an open evening next week to find out more.
Sunderland Social Services is holding an open evening on Wednesday at its Training Centre, Carrmere Road, Leechmere Industrial Estate, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, with staff on hand to answer any questions and provide further information.
Also present will be foster carers and adopters who can give firsthand accounts of the many rewards that providing a safe, secure and loving home for a child can bring.
One such foster carer is Alan Pearce, who gave up his job as transport manager to become the full-time carer of a severely disabled child and who often helps at the information evenings. He said: "Working as a transport manager pales into insignificance compared with the rewards I get from looking after James."
