THE Yorkshire point to point season ended with the Badsworth and Bramham meeting at Heslaker last Saturday.
There was an exciting finish to the men's open. Darak (Hurworth), ridden by champion jockey Nigel Tutty, made much of the running with the Annabelle Armitage-trained Royal Crimson (Bedale) and the favourite Torn Silk (P England/Badsworth) close up.
Darak and Royal Crimson, ridden by Rupert Alers-Hankey, jumped the second last together, but Torn Silk, ridden by Clive Mulhall, swept into the lead approaching the final fence and kept on well for a two-length win.
Royal Crimson kept on well for second with Darak half a length back in third.
Mick Brown's Hadeqa (Sinnington) by-passed a Stratford hunter chase to race here because of the ground and that decision was justified as he completed a hat-trick of ladies open wins in the hands of Serena Brotherton.
The favourite, Texas Ranger (P Chew/Middleton), ridden by trainer Jo Foster, made much of the running with Hadeqa travelling well in behind. Another fine leap five from home saw Hadeqa hit the front for the first time and he ran on strongly to record a three-length win. Texas Ranger kept on for second.
But Serena Brotherton's win was not enough to catch Jo Foster, who won the ladies championship by two points.
The Simon Robinson-trained and ridden Ben From Ketton (Zetland) took the intermediate race. After the Mary Sowersby-trained Purple Jean (Holderness) cut out much of the early running with Rubon Prince, Ben From Ketton led from the tenth and always looked in command.
Running on strongly, he finished three lengths clear of Purple Jean, who was given a strong ride by Guy Brewer but never looked like overhauling the leader.
Ben From Ketton followed up his success with a Sedgefield hunter chase win on Tuesday night.
Flint raider Ricky B (R Hewitt) took the restricted after making every yard of the running. Ricky B was two lengths clear at the line under Richard Burton from the Mary Sowersby-trained Snizort, ridden by Guy Brewer.
Lord Yarborough's Man At The Top (Brocklesby) picked up a deserved maiden win under trainer Mark Bennison. Man At The Top was outpaced five from home, but fought back to lead two from home before keeping on well after the last for a two-length win.
The Paul Frank-trained Queenies Girl (Hurworth) held every chance from the second last but was outpaced on the flat under Phillip Kinsella.
Ian Bennett's Saler Sal walked over in the members.
