The region's biggest championship golf tournament of the year is returning to De Vere Slaley Hall next month and we've teamed up with the European Seniors Tour and De Vere Slaley Hall to offer one golf-mad Northern Echo reader the unique and chance to caddie at this international competition.
Apart from his clubs a caddie is one of the most important assets a professional golfer can have - the right-hand man or woman is there to offer support on the fairways and make sure the pro has the right clubs to hand when he needs them.
The winner of this competition will have the opportunity to be part of a championship tournament, see first hand how the professionals play and rub shoulders with some of the leading lights of the European Seniors Tour.
Televised worldwide and taking place on June 25-27, the De Vere Northumberland Seniors Classic pulls in thousands of spectators from around the country to witness some of the world's most experienced golfers compete to lift the coveted crystal trophy and claim the £150,000 prize fund. Household names such as Scotland's Bernard Gallacher and Carl Mason have already signed up for the popular tournament which will be played on the Neil Coles designed Priestman Course at De Vere Slaley Hall.
Ideally competition entrants should be keen golfers in order to have a good understanding of the game and golf etiquette. They must also be fit, able and willing to caddie for up to six hours every day from the Pro-Am on Thursday, June 24 to the tournament final on Sunday, June 27. The prize will be a truly one-off experience for the winner and we also have five pairs of season tickets for the tournament to give away as runner up prizes.
To enter this competition please answer the question below and send in your entry with your contact details, age and a summary of your golf experience to: The Northern Echo, Local Heroes Golf Caddie Competition, Priestgate, Darlington, Co Durham, DL1 1NF. Closing date is Friday, June 4.
