INTERNATIONAL hockey came to the region at the weekend, as England Men's Under-21s triumphed over their Scottish counterparts.
The two match series was staged on the world-class water-based pitch at Durham University's Maiden Castle Sports Centre.
On Saturday, England won 10-0, and followed this up with a 11-1 victory on Sunday.
The matches were ideal preparation for the European Junior Championships to be held later this year in Belgium.
Also over the weekend at Maiden Castle, youngsters from the Durham Youth Hockey Academy, part of the Active Sports Hockey Programme, were put through their paces in coaching sessions.
Ball boys and girls for the international matches were provided by the Academy.
All proceeds of the international event will go back into grassroots development of hockey in County Durham.
