A school from the region has won the Arts Council England's Artsmark Gold Award.
Laurence Jackson School, Guisborough, east Cleveland, has achieved one of the 476 gold awards across the country announced today. The awards recognise schools' commitment to providing opportunities across all art forms, including design, dance, drama, photography, circus skills, media studies and music.
Then main aim of the annual Artsmark awards is to encourage all schools to increase the range and raise the profile of arts education.
Head teacher Robert Campbell said: "We are constantly striving to give our students a wide range of high quality arts activities and I am delighted that our work has been recognised in this special way.
"In particular I would like to thank Brian Peak, Lesley Maenami and Marjorie Oxley for their leadership of the arts in our school."
