THE new chief executive of Darlington Football Club has revealed his aspirations for the Quakers, following their 11th-hour escape from the threat of closure.
Andy Battison told The Northern Echo about plans for the 25,000 capacity Neasham Road stadium, the Sterling Consortium's views on the club, the future of manager David Hodgson and his hopes for next season.
The straight-talking Darlington supremo says: "Everybody tells me Sterling are not interested in football - dead right. But they're now in a situation where they've got to run it and make it work to actually see any sort of return, or indeed just get their money back. I can see them staying here for the medium term. If it's two years, three years or five years, so be it."
