The tenth round of the Bob Co Spring Series not only resulted in a very competitive match with Knaresborough rods Martin Dodsworth and Ian Cooper both cracking the 50.0.0 barrier but remarkably they weighed in different species from the popular Carpvale Fishery at Moor Monkton.
For Martin who snatched the verdict it was an all carp.
Pegged on Cyprio 7, bread conquered tempting fish on the bottom and then on the surface for a bag of 52.12.0.
Then over on the Match Pool it was an unforgettable day for Ian who recorded the best ever match tench net of 51.5.0 for second spot.
Sat on peg 36, Ian going over to the rushes on the right at six metres used pole and corn to slip the landing net under a string of stunning specimens including ones to 5.0.0.
Darlington's Ricky Bird lifted the annual Darlington BT Lartington Charity Cup spread between Willowgarth, Lane Fox and Snipe Ponds to beat the capacity entry of 60 when he recorded 19.6.0.
Action was instantaneous when Ricky pulled out form peg 11 on Lane Fox. He'd had almost half of his 18 bream and tench net in the first 60 minutes as a waggler and corn attack two rod lengths was the key to success.
Thanks to a bonus common carp of 10.8.0 Darlington's Colin Metcalfe was elevated into runner up spot.
Pole and pellet off Willowgarth Lake then added 4 bream to push his final score to 17.15.0.
Competitors during the York and District AA Open on Laybourne Lakes were accommodated on Marley Lake as just 27 turned up.
Bright sunshine pushed the fish tight into the shade and Armley's Ricky Gaunt needed only a level 10.0.0 to clinch it.
Ricky on peg 26 located a mixed net of small carp and tench at intervals from island cover as pole and pellet at 13 metres encouraged them to feed.
Weighted improved for the fourth in the series of the Middlesbrough AC Evening Matches on Hutton Rudby Ponds and it was down to club secretary Ron Thompson to show the rest how it was done taking 23.2.0 to the scales.
Bomb and meat off peg 16 brought four carp to hold off father and son duo Kevin and Lewis Hall with 20.1.40 and 17.0.0 respectively.
