TEENAGER Beverly Priestman has been crowned Student of the Year at Derwentside College, in Consett.
The 18-year-old, from Moorside, Consett, won the accolade for coaching and sports activities, both in college and in the wider community.
Beverly, who studied a B-TEC National Diploma in sport and an A2 in sports studies, was one of 46 students recognised for excelling in their studies, at the college's annual achievement awards ceremony.
More than 500 people attended the evening, which was hosted by Century FM presenters Lisa Shaw and Simon Cook. The awards were presented by Isabel Sutcliffe, chief executive of learning body NCFE. Other award winners who were recognised for their achievements were:
