PUPILS have been digging out their unwanted football shirts to send to people in Africa.
Children at Staindrop Comprehensive School, near Barnard Castle, are taking part in BBC Radio Five Live's Shirt Amnesty.
The station is asking people to send clean shirts from any team or era to be used by soccer squads in Africa.
Teacher Marilyn Johnson said: "We asked the pupils to help and they have brought an awful lot in.
"When it's the end of the season the kids often don't want the shirts, so we're asking them to think again before throwing them away."
To donate shirts to the appeal send them to: Locker Freight Ltd, Haleview Road, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 6DD.
