Motorists who continue to flout the law with their careless parking at the Gateshead MetroCentre are risking penalties - no matter what time of the day or night.
Thanks to CCTV technology, Northumbria Police can take action even if no officers are present when an offence is committed.
Police warned that action would be taken if motorists continued to stop on the roundabout near the bus station at Scotswood View to drop off and pick up shoppers.
Sergeant Alan Parks, of Gateshead police, who is based at MetroCentre police office, said there had been an improvement but people were still using the area as a collection point. Both £30 fixed penalty tickets for obstruction, and £60 and three penalty points for dangerous driving had been given.
