A FILM made by pupils from Hummersea Primary at Loftus reached the final six of the Roots and Wings hands-on learning competition.
Twenty youngsters, aged from seven to 11, became involved in the making of a film about the Skinningrove Ironstone Mine in the 1900s after visiting the Tom Leonard Museum. The result was a ten-minute silent film called The Accident. It premiered in July at Loftus Town Hall, along with a 30-minute documentary about its making, which showed the all-child cast working with local producer Ben Moore and his team.
Two pupils, Adam Treloar and Keira Holt, attended the award ceremony in London on Monday, when a school from Hackney, East London, was named winner.
Hummersea headteacher Sue Thompson said: "The children are very excited. We consider ourselves to be winners to have got to the final six."
