A FATHER-OF-THREE has vowed to stay strapped to Sunderland's Wearmouth Bridge for 14 days.
The 33-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is protesting against a decision affecting his children in the family courts.
"Throughout this country, the law is loaded against fathers who want to see their children following relationship break-ups," he said.
"I am prepared to stay up here for two weeks. I'm safe, strapped on, secure and I'm determined.
"I am not a member of any political party and I am doing this for my children."
His protest brought Sunderland to a halt as the bridge was closed early yesterday, but later reopened.
The father is an insulin-dependant diabetic, but he says he has enough with him to last the fortnight.
He unfurled a green banner asking for a change in "fathers' rights, child safety and free fuel".
