A CELEBRATION evening was staged to mark the success of a scheme linking a technical college with neighbouring schools.
The course has seen New College Durham working with 12 schools in mid-Durham, with pupils visiting on a weekly basis.
As part of a Government-backed programme called Increased Flexibility, the pupils have been working towards job-related qualifications.
Link course co-ordinator Karyn Vose said: "More than 300 pupils from year groups ten and 11 at the schools come to New College to work towards qualifications in vocational subjects such as motor mechanics, painting and decorating, bricklaying, hairdressing and catering.
The celebration evening, to mark the success of the programme's first year, was held at Durham Gilesgate Sports College and Sixth Form Centre.
