SOME of the region's most important art works are on display at a North-East shopping centre.
Paintings from the Laing Art Gallery, in Newcastle, have been reproduced on 36 giant banners, that are hanging in the city centre's Eldon Square retail complex.
It includes works by artists such as Ralph Hedley, John Martin, JW Carmichael, Paul Gauguin and JMW Turner.
Julie Milne, curator of the Laing, said: "This project has allowed us to show some of the stars of the Laing's collections to a much wider audience.
"Hopefully, shoppers will enjoy seeing the paintings in this unique way and they may also take time to visit the gallery and see the actual works."
Susan Nicol, Eldon Square manager, said: "We think this is an excellent way to get people from all walks of life interested in their local heritage, of which they should be very proud, and the banners have created a great deal of interest."
