VETERANS stage a dual commemorative parade at a sea front location this month.
The Royal British Legion (RBL) is marking its 75th anniversary in County Durham with a joint event to tie in with the 60th anniversary of D-Day. Ex-service groups and civic leaders from across the county will take part in the short parade, followed by an outdoor service at Seaham Harbour, on Sunday, June 13.
Those taking part will muster at the war memorial, on North Terrace, at 11.30am, prior to the march off at 11.50am and the service, at around 12-noon.
Seaham Harbour vicar, the Rev Graeme Pollock, will take the service, which will feature the laying of wreaths. RBL officials are anxious that as many ex-service groups as possible from across County Durham attend and so have avoided the weekend of the June 6 D-Day anniversary when arranging the event
