VETERANS will stage a dual commemorative parade at a sea side town this month.
The Royal British Legion is marking its 75th anniversary in County Durham with a joint event to coincide with the 60th anniversary of D-Day. Ex-service groups and civic leaders from across the county will take part in the short parade, followed by an outdoor service at Seaham Harbour on Sunday, June 13.
People taking part will congregate at the war memorial, on North Terrace, at 11.30am, prior to the parade at 11.50am and the service, at about noon.
Legion officials are anxious that as many ex-service groups as possible from the county are going to be taking part and so have avoided the weekend of the D-Day anniversary on June 6.
