REAL ale enthusiasts have given an award to a Darlington town centre pub.
Members of the local Campaign for Real Ale named The Quaker in Mechanics' Yard, their Champion Pub of the Year. It is the fourth time in five years that the pub, which was almost forced to close last year before regulars rallied round, has taken the award.
The event coincides with Steve Jackson and Lynda Harland's second anniversary in charge, and with a beer festival of 25 real ales.
The Quaker won the best town pub category, as well as the overall champion award.
