DETECTIVES are appealing for help in identifying a man who died after falling from a bridge yesterday.
The man, believed to be in his 40s or early 50s, plunged from the west side of the High Level Bridge in Newcastle. He was found near the Sea nightclub, on Newcastle Quayside, at 5.20am yesterday.
The road over the bridge was shut until 8am and the footpath on the west side of the bridge stayed closed last night, while detectives carried out their investigation.
Northumbria Police last night said they were not treating his death as suspicious, but have so far been unable to identify him.
He was described as having brown, collar-length hair. He was wearing a light blue, V-neck jumper and a peach or salmon pink short-sleeved shirt, blue Calvin Klein jeans with a black belt and brown, slip-on shoes.
Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call Newcastle CID on 0191-214 6555, extension 62126.
