A SERIES of presentations and workshops are being held to promote the launch of Stockton Youth Assembly in the Oakwood Centre, Eaglescliffe, tomorrow.
The event will consist of a number of short presentations from guests including the Mayor of Stockton, Councillor Jennie Beaumont, and leader of Stockton Borough Council Councillor Bob Gibson.
They will give presentations about their lives in politics, how they became involved, their vision of the future and the role of young people in it.
Chris Downie, youth empowerment officer for Stockton Borough Council's youth service, said: "Stockton Youth Assembly will enable the voice of young people in the borough to be heard, it will enable their views to be considered at local, regional and national levels of government and will actively campaign on issues that concern young people.
"Only by involving young people in the decision making process can we raise an awareness of, and create an interest in, local politics."
