FORMER Middlesbrough football player John Hendrie has launched an initiative to raise money for needy local children.
Radio station 96.6tfm is encouraging businesses in Teesside to "Strip for England" next Friday and show their support for the England squad, ahead of their first Euro 2004 match while raising funds for 96.6tfm's charity, Make A Child Smile.
The event has been organised so bosses, employees, children and students can don their favourite football strip for work or school and donate a pound to Make A Child Smile.
Mr Hendrie launched the scheme on Teesside this week.
The campaign is supported by Middlesbrough's tallest office building, Centre North East, which is selling car flags on behalf of Make a Child Smile.
Presenter Antony Collins said: "Strip for England is a great opportunity for people all over the region to show support for their favourite team.
"It is going to be great fun on Friday and a perfect opportunity to raise some money for charity."
Mr Hendrie said: "I had a great time in Middlesbrough when I played for the club and am very happy to help Tfm raise funds for local children."
