SEWERAGE technician Philip Allison is going back to school to teach children how to cycle safely.
Osmotherley Primary School approached Mr Allison to see of he could spare any time to help with their cycling awareness programme.
And his bosses at Yorkshire Water agreed he could spend an hour per week as part of the company's employee volunteering programme.
More than 20 per cent of the Yorkshire Water workforce are involved in volunteering work of some kind.
Corporate affairs advisor Anne Reed said: "Yorkshire Water is delighted to get involved in community projects wherever possible.
"Quite often, providing help-in-kind, our people's time, our facilities and other company resources is more useful than simply making a financial donation.
"We strongly recognise the huge business benefit volunteering offers and would recommend other businesses to give their time and energy freely for the benefit of the area they work in."
