YOUNGSTERS on Teesside are making a film which they hope may be shown on television.
Members of the Coyote Youth Theatre, in Grangetown, have already had a 50-minute trailer for their film Sub-Zero screened at Redcar Cinema.
Thirty-two youngsters are involved in producing the film about the surveillance of young people and the corruption surrounding it.
Professional actors, including Michael Hodgson, from television series 200 Acres of Sky, and Libby Davidson, from The Bill, gave up their time to help shoot the trailer. Ian Dowson wrote the script with the youngsters, who gave him ideas for the story line.
The film, which will cost £25,000 to make, should go to production in August, if enough money is raised, with the help of a professional team of film makers.
So far, the group has received backing from organisations including Northern Film and Media, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and Tees Valley Community Foundation.
Paul Tuffs, chairman of the Coyote Youth Theatre, said: "This is giving the kids something to look forward to, something to work towards and something that they can achieve.
"If this gets off the ground, which I'm sure it will, as we have even had interest from Channel 4, it will be a huge plus for this area."
