Worthington CIU Summer League: Willington produced the win of the week when they beat the visiting Wheatley Hill A and the two now share the second spot in the First Division, two points behind the leading Fishburn A and two ahead of Sherburn Village.
The Willington side took the first three frames through Bobby Lee, Jeremy Martin and Tom Parkin. The visitors fought back to keep the deficit to a minimum when Ronnie Peacock and Jack Wright
Fishburn A strengthened their position at the top of the table after they only dropped one point to the visiting Shotton Palms, who had Paul Hickman take the final frame to save the whitewash. The Fishburn winners were John Griffin, Wayne Oliver, John Carter and Charlie Hirst.
Despite losing by the odd point at home, Sherburn Village remain in fourth place. Spennymoor A, the reigning champions, took the first three frames through Paul Atkinson, Paul Biddle with a 55 break and Michael Pratt. Sherburn fought back with wins from Scott Mallaburn and Gary Deluce.
Meadowfield slipped down to share the bottom spot in the First Division with Shotton Palms after they only took one point from their visit to Witton Gilbert. Craig Hughes took the first frame for the visitors but then Witton took over with wins from John Rooney senior, Ian Renwick, Paul Nord and John Rooney junior.
Newton Aycliffe took the first frame at Newhouse through Bill Barrigan but then the home side took charge with wins from John Maddox, Paul Wright, Ronnie Pearson and Ian Dinsdale.
Crowtrees A were never headed by the visiting Brandon. Sonny Hann put the home side ahead but Kevin Sample levelled. Dave Lowery restored the home lead but John Hall equalised by beating Kevin McLaughlan, who had put in a 33 break. In the decider Steve Armstrong took Crowtrees to victory by beating Graham Jackson.
The top of the table clash at Coundon A saw the visiting Bearpark A move level with their hosts following their odd point victory. Mally Ryder and Frank Nicholson took points for Coundon whilst Alex Donaldson, Shaun Easter and John Jackson took Bearpark to victory.
Stanley Central and Langley Park share the third spot in the Second Division after they both made odd point away wins. Stanley Central had wins from Jimmy Musgrove, Bob Oxley and Michael Vickery at Crook Belle Vue, who replied through Ken Rider and John Warriner.
Langley Park were never headed when they visited Spennymoor B. Lenny Thompson put the Park ahead but Dennis Dodd equalised. Stephen Coates restored the visitors' lead only to see Alan Rouell level. In the decider the Park's Lawrence Jones snatched the final black to beat Micky Anderson.
Old Shildon recovered from a two points deficit when they entertained the visiting Ferryhill A. the visitors went ahead with wins from Karl Wood and Glyn Toas but Martin Taylor put in a 32 break and Mal Parsley won to square the match. In the decider Shildon's Paul Armstrong put in a 35 break to beat Steve Pringle.
Only Tony Ellison managed to take a point for Wheatley Hill B from the visiting New Durham, who had wins from Gordon Bowes, Thomas Cairns, Neil Phillips and Kevin Scullion.
Sacriston extended their lead at the top of the Third Division to four points following their home win over former leaders, Coundon B. The visitors only took one point when Andrew Tuesday won on his debut. Sacriston had wins from Jeff Evans, Alan Richardson, Mark Appleby and Neil Burn.
Bearpark B moved up to share second place with Coundon B after they only dropped one point to the visiting Crowtrees B, who had Billy Edwards as their only winner. The home winners were Paul Wilson, David Evans, Anthony Cooper with a 30 break and Robert Lumley.
Leeholme B made their first ever victory over their A team, who only managed one point, when Ian North won. The B teams winners were Christopher Davison, Lee Todd, Anthony Forster and John Taylor.
Tow Law B made their first victory of the season when they only dropped one point to the visiting Victoria, who had John Facey as their only winner. The home winners were Paul Chollerton, John Wilson, Adam Orton and Lee Stockdale.
Hunwick whitewashed the visiting Fishburn B with wins from Neville Blenkinsopp, John Bate, Barry Fleming, Tom Ward and Trevor Lomax.
Ferryhill B beat the visiting Tow Law in the decider. The home side went two up with wins from Billy Roddam and Terry Roddam but the Lawyers levelled with wins from Stephen Laing and Lee Cullinan. In the decider Mark Wilson beat David Johnson.
