TRIBUTES will be paid in Stockton tomorrow to the men who took part in the D-Day invasion.
Wreaths will be laid alongside the town's war memorial by the parish church where a civic service will be held.
D-Day veteran Fred Cooper, 83, of Billingham, will lay a wreath along with the Mayor of Stockton, Councillor Jennie Beaumont.
Mr Cooper served with the Hampshire Regiment when he landed on Gold Beach, in Normandy.
He had been transferred to the Hampshires from the Teesside and North Yorkshire regiment The Green Howards after he became a casualty in the Western Desert.
He was also a veteran of Dunkirk and served in the Army from 1939 to 1953. He is also a life member of The Green Howards Association.
A Royal British Legion parade will start from Yarm Lane at 10.30am and will march up the High Street to the War Memorial, where the mayor will take the salute.
