A TOWN'S residents are determined to improve their streets.
Enthusiastic neighbours received tuition at the weekend on making hanging baskets.
The idea is to brighten up rows of terraced houses in Middlesbrough's West Lane, Newport and Whinney Banks.
Joan Ford, chairwoman of the West Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Trust, said: "The hanging basket training is a great way to get people active, green up the streets and involve local people in brightening up their neighbourhoods.
"It is also really cost effective as well, because once people have learned the skills to make the baskets, they can make their own displays year-after-year and save a lot of money in the process."
