A WOMAN has had an amazing escape after falling 50ft from a block of flats.
The 33-year-old un-named woman fell from a third-floor window in Moray Close, Peterlee, east Durham, at 11pm on Friday.
She suffered severe head injuries and doctors at Hartlepool General Hospital initially feared for her life.
However, she regained consciousness yesterday and was able to speak of her ordeal to police.
Inspector Eddie Bell, of Durham Police, said: "She has been very lucky. She has serious head injuries, lost a lot of blood and will be in hospital for a while."
Insp Bell said it was not known if the woman fell or jumped deliberately, but had assured them there were no suspicious circumstances.
He said: "She is not blaming anybody else. We are satisfied that nobody pushed her and have stopped our investigation."
