A CARERS group in east Cleveland is holding an information fair to highlight the services available to the estimated 16,000 carers in the area.
The event, which will take place at The Bellamy Pavilion, Kirkleatham Museum, near Redcar, from 11.15am next Monday, is one of a series of events marking this year's national Carers Week, from June 14 to June 20.
Two carers' information packs will be available at the event, organised by Carers Together in Redcar and Cleveland, in partnership with Langbaurgh and Middlesbrough Primary Care Trusts and Redcar and Cleveland social services department.
Health will be the main theme of the week, following the discovery that two-thirds of carers who provided care for more than 50 hours a week said their health has been affected.
Sue Reeves, manager at Carers Together, said: "Everyone with caring responsibilities will be very welcome at our events.
"It is the ideal opportunity to meet with people in a similar situation, find out more about the local support and services available to them, and to give themselves a break."
There will be an information stand for carers all week at Redcar library. A stand will also be held on Tuesday, June 15, at Morrisons supermarket, Redcar, from 10am to 3pm.
