SIR Michael Stoute and Kieren Fallon, fresh from triumph in Saturday's Epsom Derby, look to have a fine chance of success, albeit at a considerably lower level, at Pontefract this evening.
The Newmarket trainer's Adaikali looks a progressive type and can get off the mark at the fourth attempt in the toteplacepot handicap over a mile and a quarter.
Following two inauspicious efforts over seven furlongs, the son of Green Desert turned in a much improved performance when upped to a mile on fast ground at Haydock last time.
Although he edged off a true line when put under pressure he stuck to his task in the closing stages to finish under two lengths second to Brindisi in a manner that suggested the step up to this trip would be in his favour.
Academy, who shaped well on his recent reappearance, is fancied to give a good account in the Tony Bethell Memorial Handicap over two miles and one furlong.
Andrew Turnell's gelding is best around this trip on a sound surface and showed he retains all his ability when second to Red Sun, who is now a fair bit worse off at the weights, at Newcastle last month.
He's certainly capable of giving a good account from his current mark, especially if Chris Catlin can hang on to him for as long as possible and he's taken to beat Vicars Destiny, who will appreciate the return to this trip.
David Nicholls has his team in good form after a fairly quiet start to the season and he can land the Shamrock And Leprechaun Handicap over six furlongs with the potentially well-treated Albashoosh.
The ex-Jim Goldie gelding has shown clear signs of retaining plenty of ability for his new stable and, although he was a bit disappointing last time over seven furlongs at Musselburgh, he pulled far too hard in the early stages.
The return to six furlongs in a much more strongly run race is going to be in his favour and he's well berthed in stall three for one that races up with the pace.
Online Investor is another that is back on a favourable mark and, after a rock solid run from a modest draw at Musselburgh, he's taken to go well in the Emerald Isle Classified Stakes over six furlongs.
Although he's on a lengthy losing run, he has a good chance at these weights, has conditions to suit and will appreciate the return to this trip on a course with a stiff uphill finish.
At Windsor's evening fixture Jeremy Glover can be another trainer in double form with his sprinters and his Musical Fair and Party Princess look the most appealing wagers on the card. Musical Fair, back to form at Thirsk last time, has conditions to suit and looks the one to be on from a favourable draw in the Sunley Handicap over her optimum trip of five furlongs.
Her style of racing makes it difficult for the handicapper to pin her down and, although raised 5lb for that win, she looks capable of going very close in this company.
Party Princess isn't so well drawn in the six-furlong fillies handicap an hour later but she looks worth chancing, especially as she's open to plenty of further improvement.
Mandarin Spirit looks worth it at Folkestone and should make all the running in the Rose & Crown Stelling Minnis Classified Stakes.
