A THEME park worker seriously injured when he was hit by a rollercoaster remained in a stable condition in hospital last night.
Emrullio Akel, 33, from Whitby, North Yorkshire, was taken to James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, with broken arms and chest and abdominal injuries, after he was struck by the Magnum Force rollercoaster at Flamingo Land, near Malton, last Tuesday.
It is understood Mr Akel had tried to jump across the tracks as the rollercoaster was approaching the end of its ride.
A keen bodybuilder with a five-year-old son, Mr Akel has been working at the park since March.
Investigations into the accident are under way, but there were no health and safety concerns about the ride, Europe's only triple-loop ride and which reaches a height of 100ft.
