Seb Sanders took the riding honours at Brighton with a 65-1 double on A Woman In Love and Doctor Dennis.

Sanders did not have an easy ride on A Woman In Love, the 5-1 favourite, in the early stages of Donatello Ristorante Handicap over seven furlongs for trainer Brooke Sanders (no relation).

But the five-year-old lengthened up and scored by three-quarters of a length from 66-1 long-shot Tee Jay Kassidy with another outsider Due To Me (40-1) two and a half lengths further away in third.

Trainer Sanders said: ''I bought her at the Horses In Training Sale nearly two years ago. She needs to have things go her own way and after she enjoyed this so much I may run her at Newbury on Wednesday.''

Sanders completed his brace on 10-1 chance Doctor Dennis for Jeff Pearce and the Newmarket trainer's wife Lydia, who owns the seven-year-old. Doctor Dennis defeated Boanerges by three-quarters of a length with Jazz Millennium and Aintnecessarilyso, who dead-heated for third, a further length and three-quarters away.

Factual Lad, owned by an octet from Devon called Tarka Racing, named after the otter hero of Henry Williamson's famous book, left the rest floundering in the toteplacepot Handicap.

The gelding led over a furlong out to beat Lara Falana by a length and a quarter. The 12-1 shot finished lame at Bath last time but head of the partnership Tony Conway said: ''After 15 minutes he was sound again.''

* It was a home success for the French yesterday when Pascal Bary's Blue Canari came with a late challenge to land the Prix du Jockey-Club under Thierry Thulliez at Chantilly.

British runners failed to make the frame but John Gosden's impressive York winner Day Flight was always handy and took up the running entering the home straight.

However, the Sadler's Wells colt could not hold off several late challengers and was beaten just over a length into fourth.

Mick Channon's Top Seed and Marcus Tregoning's Predominate Stakes winner Manyana both failed to cut any ice, with the winner returning at a massive 33-1.

The overall result was decided in a photograph and the winner only got up in the dying strides to deny 7-1 shot Prospect Park with Valixir back in third.

Bary, celebrating his fifth Derby win, said: ''It was only a last minute decision to run him and although he had form, I didn't think he was good enough."
