VILLAGERS are coming together for an open garden day on Sunday for the final money-making effort of a four-year fundraising campaign.
People living in Coxwold, near Easingwold, have been raising cash since 2000 to restore a Victorian stained glass window at St Michael's Church.
They set themselves a £20,000 target and succeeded in raising £19,000, but rising costs of the project have left them needing between £4,000 and £5,000 to pay off the remaining bills.
Open garden organiser Jean Richardson said: "We are only a small village, so it has been a bit of a struggle, but we are getting there."
Work at the church has been completed, with the crumbling stone around the window being replaced with a much tougher stone.
Gardens in the village will be open from 1pm to 5.30pm on Sunday and there will be home-made teas on offer at the village hall and Dale Croft throughout the afternoon. There will also be a bunny trail competition for youngsters.
