POLICE have arrested a suspected flasher after a string of complaints going back more than two years - and are appealing for more of his victims to come forward.
The man, dubbed the Belmont Flasher, is alleged to have exposed himself in front of women and teenagers on a number of occasions.
He has struck mainly in a wooded area between Belmont and Sherburn Village, near Durham City, known locally as The Scrambles.
On Saturday, an operation by Durham Police led to a 47-year-old man from West Rainton, near Durham City, being arrested on suspicion of outraging public decency.
After being interviewed, he was released on police bail until mid-July.
Police now want to hear from anyone else who believes he or she was targeted by the flasher, who often had a mountain bike.
PC Gordon Stuart said: "We think there could be other people who have seen him but who have not reported the incident to the police.
"Some might have been too embarrassed, while others may have thought the incident was not serious."
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Stuart or one of his colleagues at the Sherburn section office, on 0191-286 4222, extension 2902.
