MOTORCYCLISTS from the Royal Military Police will take part in a display aimed at reducing a county's toll of motorcycle casualties.
They will be joined by the North Yorkshire Police Bike Safe display unit on the seafront in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, on Saturday to give bikers riding advice and technical tips.
Expert police motorcyclists will offer to take riders on assessed rides, during which they will be followed and then given opinions about their techniques.
A display caravan will also be present. It includes accident reduction videos, displays of types of clothing that have saved riders from serious injuries, defective bike parts that have caused bad crashes and the remains of a bike that was in a fatal collision.
Last year, 28 motorcyclists were killed on North Yorkshire's roads. Seven have died already this year.
PC Dave Burlingham, who designed the display caravan, said: "We are quite comfortable combining friendly persuasion in one place with hard-nosed enforcement in another. The two go together well."
The caravan will be outside the Tea Pot cafe, on Sandside, from 9am to 4pm.
