A CAT and its kittens which were rescued by a long distance lorry driver are in need of a new home.
The heavily pregnant cat, named Tazmin, was being fed and watered by workers at a depot in Burton-on-Trent, in Staffordshire.
But without a permanent home, Tazmin's litter were due to be born on the street and left to fend for themselves.
When Teresa Searle, who fosters cats at her home for the Aristocat Rescue charity, heard of Tazmin's plight, she persuaded her lorry-driver husband to step in.
She said: "The cat was well fed, but nobody could take her in and she would have been left out to have her babies, which wouldn't have been very pleasant for her, so my husband organised for us to have her."
The migrant moggy hitched a ride back to Newton Aycliffe, where she gave birth to four kittens.
The kittens are now almost eight-weeks-old and are ready to be re-homed - as is their mother.
Tazmin is about two-years-old, black and white, with green eyes, white whiskers and white toes.
Mrs Searle said: "She's a very loving cat, but she has got a strong character and she's been an absolutely brilliant mother."
Anyone interested in giving Tazmin or her kittens a home can call Aristocats on (01325) 300290.
