THE battle against lazy lifestyles and obesity will begin in the North-East with a test campaign.
Everyday Sport, a Government-backed and celebrity-endorsed campaign being run by Sport England, will be launched in the region tomorrow.
A Have-A-Go Fair, in Baltic Square, Gateshead, will mark the start of four months of Everyday Sport activities across the North-East.
Sporting celebrities, schoolchildren, businesses and local politicians will be put through their paces, whatever their ability, when they try out a series of activity stations - anything from walking the dog to football coaching.
Visitors to the fair will also be treated to the Rugby Football Union's Sweet Chariot tour and the chance to see the Rugby World Cup, the Webb Ellis Trophy and the FA Cup.
