SIX leading opera performers will give a concert in a town on Saturday to help raise funds for a bigger production later in the year.
Linda Craig, Brian Jordan, Susan Smith, Brian Artist, Ruth Lackenby and Ron Kemp, principal singers with Opera North, will perform songs from the shows, at the Methodist Church, in Barnard Castle, County Durham.
The team, from the Newcastle company, will sing numbers from Desert Song, Bitter Sweet, Guys and Dolls and Camelot, as well as others by Gershwin and Rogers and Hart.
John Wise, a director of the company who is organising the show, said: "The proceeds will go towards a later full-scale opera, which will cost us up to £30,000 to stage."
Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7.30pm, are £5 from (01833) 637227.
