HUNDREDS of people turned out at Redcar Racecourse to watch the East Cleveland Advertiser's handicap stakes.
The winner of the race, which was contested over the straight seven furlongs for three-year-olds, was Dark Day Blues, based at Middleham, near Leyburn.
The horse, owned by Mike Newbould and trained by Micky Hammond, won by a length and a quarter.
Jockey Darren Williams, 25, had his 27th win of the year.
The best turned out horse of the race, selected by Sheila Argument, general manager of the East Cleveland Advertiser, was Bowling Along.
Groom, Elaine Mudd, was awarded £50, but the horse did not take part in the race as it was unruly at the start.
Graham Orange, of Go Racing in Yorkshire, said: "There was a good crowd. It was a good day."
