TALENTED pensioners rocked around the grandfather clock yesterday to become the region's top silver star.
The North-East final of Yours magazine's Silver Stars amateur talent contest took place in Middlesbrough Theatre yesterday afternoon.
Glamorous grandmothers and gifted grandfathers strutted their stuff.
The singers, dancers and comedians had already fought off strong competition during local heats to reach the final.
Each finalist was hoping to go through and perform in front of 2,000 people at the final in Southport on July 28.
Yours reader care editor Rosie Sandall said: "Silver Stars is a fabulous celebration of mature talent and is closely followed by our one million readers.
"This unique contest demonstrates through practical example that there are thousands of people who are never too old to realise their ambitions of stardom."
Organiser Bob Brierley said: "The talent contest proves it is never too late to succeed in showbiz."
