Fishburn held on to their top spot in the First Division but were taken to the decider before they won at Brandon, a result which kept them one point ahead of Wheatley Hill A.
Charlie Hirst put Fishburn ahead but Kevin Sample put in a 30 break to level. John Griffin restored the visitors' lead but Graeme Jackson again pulled Brandon level. In the decider, Fishburn's Brian Quest beat John Hall.
Wheatley Hill A increased the pressure on Fishburn A after they only dropped one point to the visiting Crowtrees A, who had Sonny Hann as their only winner. The Hill's points came from Alan Hall, Ronnie Peacock, Dave Walker and Dennis Clish.
Sherburn Village moved a point behind Wheatley Hill A after they whitewashed their hosts at Meadowfield. Sherburn's winners were Gary Deluce, Alan Greener, John Bower, Peter McGowan and Scott Mallaburn.
Willington slipped down to fourth place when they had Gordon Parkin as their only winner at Newton Aycliffe. The home side had wins from Peter Brown, Mark Howe, Stuart Neil and Bill Barrigan.
Reigning champions, Spennymoor A made their third consecutive victory after a poor start when they beat the visiting Newhouse by the odd point. The Moors had wins from Paul Atkinson, Karl Welsh and Michael Pratt, who put in a 32 break. The visitors replied with wins from John Maddox and Ian Dinsdale.
Shotton Palms slipped down the table after they only took one point from the visiting Witton Gilbert when Jimmy Evans won. The visitors had wins from John Rooney senior, Ian Renwick, John Rooney junior and Paul Nord.
Bearpark A held on to the leadership of the Second Division when the visiting Durham City only managed to take one point. The home side had wins from Steve Gott, Alan Smith, Alex Donaldson and Shaun Easter, whilst Barry Stoddart took the point for the City.
Stanley Central held their second spot with a three points victory over the visiting Spennymoor B, who had Wayne Parry as their only winner. The Central had wins from Bob Oxley, Jack Musgrove, Jimmy Dufton and Walter Cornell.
Harold Lomax put Crook Belle Vue ahead at New Durham but this proved to be their only point as the home side moved up to challenge the leaders. The New Durham winners were Thomas Cairns, Kevin Scullion, Gordon Bowes and Neil Phillips.
Langley Park are just one point behind Stanley Central after they beat the visiting Old Shildon in the decider. Robert Roche, returning to the Park after a long lay-off, and Lenny Thompson put them ahead but Mal Parsley and Paul Armstrong squared the match. In the decider the Park's Stephen Coates beat Peter Coates.
Coundon A were pushed down to a share of third place in the Second Division after they went down in the decider at Ferryhill A. Billy Goggins put Coundon ahead but Steve Wray and Ian Fawcett moved the home side ahead. Frank Nicholson put in a 43 break to level the match. In the decider Ferryhill's Neil Spender beat Graham Goulbourn on the black.
Sacriston continued to dominate the Third Division with a maximum victory at Fishburn B with wins from Mark Appleby, Neil Burn, Jeff Evans, Willy Nixon and Dale Evans.
Bearpark B only dropped one point at Coundon B to stay in equal second place. John Paul Wringe took the only point for the home side, whilst David Evans, Les Dobbin, Paul Wilson and Anthony Cooper won for the visitors.
Leeholme A kept pace with Bearpark B after they only dropped one point to the visiting Tow Law B, who had Adam Orton as their only winner. The home side had wins from Ray Gill, Karl Thompson, David Hudspeth and Ian North.
Hunwick were never headed on their visit to the Victoria. Trevor Lomax put the visitors ahead but Ronnie Murray levelled. Tom Ward restored the Hunwick lead only to see John Facey square the match. In the decider Hunwick's Neville Blenkinsopp beat Colin Pratt
Tow Law A went ahead against the visiting Leeholme B with a win from Heppell Hodgson. However Adrian Prest produced one of his best ever performance to equalise. Arthur Henderson restored the Lawyers lead but Anthony Forster levelled and then Christopher Davison took the visitors to victory when he beat David Johnson in the decider.
Mark Wilson put Ferryhill B ahead at Crowtrees B but Ray Miller levelled. Terry Roddam restored the visitors' lead but Terry Gibson equalised. In the decider Crowtrees Paul Moralee beat Chris Buston.
