RESIDENTS are being encouraged to investigate Darlington's military links.
Darlington Centre for Local Studies, at Crown Street Library, is running events in conjunction with Local Studies Month and the BBC's People War project.
The initiative begins today with a military-themed walk led by local historian and author George Flynn. It will start at 2.15pm at the corner of Larchfield Street and Coniscliffe Road, and finish at the Bradford Armoury, Neasham Road. The cost is £1 per person.
On Monday, at 2pm, Bob Jackson will be give talk on the secret weapons of the Second World War, in the library.
An open afternoon also takes place in the centre next Wednesday, from 2pm to 5pm, with people able to check the military records of their ancestors.
